This lecture draws on the work of the author and his book Drawing on Architecture: The Object of Lines. Its purpose is to provide a shortened form of the material for educators use in their lectures. It discusses architectural representations – primarily drawings, but also models – as objects imbedded in certain networks that influence the ways that these representations are perceived and understood. It was these networks that developed that naturalized drawings as the fertile ground within which postmodern exploration took place. Take-aways for students, beyond the history that is provided, can be about how to think about the representations that they make and see today and how they are influenced by the circumstances – immediate, social, economic, political, etc. in which they are in.
