This lecture picks up where the previous lecture leaves off. However, it is arranged thematically as well as chronologically. Its purpose is to introduce to students a whole host of other ways that architectural models have and can be used. Covered are representations of models being presented to kings and saints, the development of the working model in the Renaissance, discusses building models, city models, plaster casts, scale and full-size models, and extends discussions of architectural models to consider whether things like dollhouses, home goods, and cakes might be considered models and if they are, how it may change the way we think about what architecture is in relationship to these things. Other issues the lecture emphasizes are scale, experience, politics, economics, professionalization, history, preservation, and making. The lecture ends by questioning whether or not architecture itself is a model.
